Mexican HRC production and consumption declines in February

Apparent consumption of hot rolled coils(HRC) in Mexico decreased 6.7 percent, year-over-year, in February to
305,000 metric tons (mt), while production decreased 15.8 percent to 223,000 mt, according to data from the MexicanChamber of the lron and Steel Industry (Canacero) reviewed by SteelOrbis.
Production decreased by 57,000 mt, going from 339,000 mt in February 2022 to 396,000 mt in the second month of2023; equivalent to four days without activity in manufacturing companies in said month.
In contrast, the HRC trade flow decreased 39.0 percent to 114,000 mt. Exports decreased 74.6 percent to 16,000 mtand imports decreased 21.0 percent to 98,000 mt.
